The experience behind this site is real: we grew on an actual balcony for years and still garden in containers today. That practice shapes what we cover and how we judge advice, and any content drawn directly from our own growing is labelled as first-hand. Product verdicts and guides that are not labelled this way are research-based - built from published information rather than our own trials - and we say so rather than implying tests we have not run.

Our research draws on manufacturer specifications and documentation; independent expert reviews; aggregated owner and user reviews plus community discussion; and peer-reviewed research and official data where relevant. Where sources conflict, we surface the conflict rather than picking the more flattering claim.

We do not publish star ratings unless the named author has demonstrable first-hand experience with the product - reviews without that basis are analysis, not scored verdicts.
